Mode of action

Profiler WG 71 is an optimal combination of two highly effective active substances for the prevention and control of downy mildew in grapes.

Fluopicolide belongs to a new chemical class – acylpicolides – with a unique mode of action. It acts mainly preventively, with high efficacy and long-lasting protection on both leaves and clusters. Fluopicolide has penetrative activity and translaminar movement within the plant.

Aluminium fosetyl is a fully systemic substance, acting both upwards and downwards in the plant. It has direct effects on zoospores and fungal mycelium, and indirect effects by stimulating the plant’s natural defense mechanisms. Aluminium fosetyl does not induce resistance, even with repeated use.

Profiler WG 71 provides complete and long-lasting protection against grape downy mildew.

Application rates and target organisms

Crop Target organism Dosage
Grapes Downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola) 2.25 – 2.5 kg/ha

Usage instructions

Lower dose is applied when the infection risk is low, while 2.5 kg/ha is recommended in years with conditions favorable for downy mildew development.

Despite its good curative and anti-sporulation properties on both leaves and clusters, preventive use is recommended.

Maximum 3 applications per season are allowed, at 10–14 day intervals, depending on infection pressure and plant growth rate, from BBCH 53 (visible inflorescences) to BBCH 79 (cluster compaction).

Optimal timing is at the beginning of flowering, when Profiler protects growing shoots and inflorescences until after capfall due to its systemic and long-lasting action.

Profiler can also be used for the second basic treatment at the end of flowering and/or during berry formation.

For sustained and effective protection, maintain high aluminium fosetyl concentration in the plant through successive treatments with Mikal Flash or repeat applications of Profiler WG 71.

Pre-harvest interval: 40 days for both table and wine grapes
